Admissions Process
Materials to be Submitted to the Admissions Office
- The Application for Graduate Admission
- A $40.00 non-refundable application fee payable to Western Michigan University
- An official transcript from each undergraduate and graduate institution you have attended except for WMU
- Submit GRE scores, from no more than five years old, for verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing components of the examination. Use school code 1902 and department code 4801.

Applicants may submit the Application for Graduate Admission online. Online applications can be completed by following the appropriate links on the Graduate Admissions application webpage.
Materials to be Submitted to the School of Public Affairs and Administration Office (in the Tan Envelope
- The Departmental Application Form
- Your responses to all four (4) departmental essay questions
- Your current resume
- Three (3) letters of recommendation using the WMU Graduate Reference Form

Applicants may submit required departmental materials (items 2, 3, and 4 above) online here. As noted above, the Application for Graduate Admission may also be filled out online here (NOTE: the online Application for Graduate Admission only needs to be filled out once).
All application materials should be submitted by April 30th to ensure consideration for the fall semester. Late applications may be considered on a space-available basis while earlier applications may be required to meet university financial aid deadlines.
