Volunteer Opportunities

Work day at the Gibbs HousePut the "we" inĀ Wesustain by volunteering!

The Office for Sustainability is always looking for volunteers to help with EcoMug distribution, event promotion, gardening, The Bike Stable, data collection and many other tasks. Volunteering provides a fun and effective opportunity to make connections and contribute to the ongoing sustainability efforts of Western Michigan University. Volunteer shifts will run anywhere from one to four hours depending on the task and number of participants.

Permaculture volunteer opportunities will vary based on time of season and location projects. If you're wondering what you might be asked to do as a volunteer, please look at our overview of tasks by season. Volunteers who work specifically on the Stadium Drive Community garden may be eligible for a $15.00 scholarship to be used towards the cost of community garden plot (subject to availability) at the Stadium Drive Community Garden.

Whether you are interested in permaculture, bikes, recycling and composting, or just being involved in a community of people working to make the greater WMU area a wonderful place to live, contact us by completing the volunteer application. We look forward to working with you!
