Advice for Freshman

My greatest advice for new students is not to be shy around new people. Take the first step by going out and introducing yourself. Take all the opportunities that Western has to offer you.

About Erin

Hi I'm Erin. I'm from Hillsdale, MI and I graduated in 2009 from Hillsdale High School. My family includes a wonderful mom, a great dad, and a 13 year old sister. In high school I enjoyed many different sports. My freshman and sophomore year I played volleyball, basketball, and softball. I continued playing basketball and softball through my senior year and added golf. Most of my free time was spent with friends or participating in shcool activities.

Western Michigan became on of my top choices because of many different reasons. Coming from an excellent family, I wanted to make sure it was a distance that I could drive to visit for the day. It is only an hour and fifteen minutes from my house, so it works out perfectly. WMU also has a great teaching program. Majoring in Special Education, it was very important to find a university that had the professors and resources to help me succeed.

When I'm not attending class or working for Western Michigan University, I hang out with friends around campus. I like to go to Miller Movie nights to watch the latest movies. I also like to cheer on my broncos at different sporting events. I love to go out and meet people of all walks of life.
