Auditions

Auditions for the Western Michigan University Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band are held on the first day of classes each semester in the Dalton Center. The procedure is similar each semester: Simply come by the main floor's 1400 wing and look for the studio of the professor who teaches the instrument you play. A list of audition times will be posted on the door. Sign up for a time, usually about 10 minutes.

Each studio professor will have different audition requirements each term. Several weeks prior to each semester, please contact the professor who teaches the instrument you play. A list of these faculty members may be found at the following link: http://www.wmich.edu/music/directory

If you have difficulty finding the information you need, please contact the Director of Bands, Dr. Scott Boerma at: scott.boerma@wmich.edu

Ensemble lists are posted by the third or fourth day of the first week of classes on the University Bands Bulletin board at the corner of the 1400 wing of the first floor studios in the Dalton Center. This provides an opportunity for any necessary schedule adjustments during the "drop and add" period. Students may find it beneficial to register for both Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band to keep the times available and then simply drop the ensemble you don’t need.
