KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the Connable Board Room of the Bernhard Center.
Agenda items include the selection of an architect for a new student services building, which is being planned for the southeast corner of Stadium Drive and Oliver Street. The building would consolidate several existing functions that serve students directly and currently are located in different buildings. Construction could begin as early as October 1998 and be completed in December 2000.
In addition, the trustees will consider a proposal to offer a new bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. A name change for the master of science degree in manufacturing science to manufacturing engineering also is on the agenda.
Committee meetings will precede the full board meeting in Room 204 of the Bernhard Center. Times are: Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 9:15 a.m.; and Budget and Finance Committee, 10 a.m. All meetings are open to the public.
