Alpha Kappa Mu honor society selects 54 students

KALAMAZOO--Alpha Kappa Mu national honor society recently inducted 54 Western Michigan University students.

Jointly sponsored by the Division of Minority Affairs and the Lee Honors College, the WMU chapter was formed to promote high academic achievers among the University's minority students and to recognize their academic excellence. WMU is the only Michigan institution of higher education with an Alpha Kappa Mu chapter.

The chapter is open to juniors and seniors with a grade point average of 3.30 or better and graduate students who have completed 16 or more credit hours with an overall grade point average of 3.70 or better.

Inducted as honorary members of the chapter during the ceremony were WMU President Diether H. Haenicke and Dr. Charles C. Warfield, associate professor of educational leadership, who also gave the keynote address.
