University sports and recreation signs come down

September 2, 1998

KALAMAZOO -- At approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, Western Michigan University workers began removing three signs recently erected on the University's Asylum Lake, Lee Baker Farm and Colony Farm Orchard properties.

The large yellow and brown signs that read "WMU Sports and Recreation Area" are being removed while the University develops a plan to best utilize these and other undeveloped properties. WMU President Elson S. Floyd is expected to announce at the Sept. 18 meeting of the WMU Board of Trustees ways in which members of the local community will be able to participate in the development of the University land-use plan.
