Advertising student winner in internship program

May 11, 1999

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University student Tabitha Giles has been named a winner of the 1999 Multicultural Advertising Intern Program sponsored by the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

Giles, of Saginaw, Mich., was one of 95 students chosen from more than 350 applicants to the intern program and is the first student from WMU to be selected. A WMU junior majoring in advertising, Giles will complete an internship at D'Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., this summer.

Giles was selected on the basis of a print advertising campaign, essays and letters of support she submitted. As a semi-finalist, she also completed a series of screening interviews with advertising professionals.

MAIP has offered college students of racially diverse backgrounds on-the-job training and paid work experience at AAAA-member advertising agencies for 25 years.
