KALAMAZOO- Fifty-two students (listed below by home town) were recently awarded scholarships by the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. The scholarships have been awarded for the 1999-2000 academic year and range from $50 to $5,000. The students were recognized for their academic excellence and extracurricular participation in the college's activities.
JOHAR -- Lee Ping Lai, Jin Ara 15, Desa Lemerlang, received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, she is the daughter of Tiam Chaw Tai and Ann Lai.
SEREMBAN -- Priscilla Ly Lee, No. 4 Jalan Temiang, received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Ho Sit Moy and Lee Kooi Seng.
IRVINE -- Amy L. Vuong, 97 Briarwood, received a $250
General Motors Equal
Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance
or financial need. A freshman studying business administration,
she is the daughter of Tami and Phong Vuong.
DARIEN -- Matthew W. Huels, 805 Albany Lane, received
a $50 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations
from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in accountancy
and computer information systems, he is the son of Marion and
William Huels.
EVANSTON -- Stacy B. Gardner , 1722 Madison St., received
a $5,000 Kalamazoo
Gazette Business Award, awarded for academic performance or
financial need. A sophomore majoring in general business, she
is the daughter of Marion Coley.
ATHENS -- Angela J. Young, 2017 V Drive South, received
the $225 Alfred E.
Pugno Scholarship, named for Pugno, a Fremont businessman and
the first president of the WMU Alumni Association. A senior majoring
in advertising, Young is the daughter of Suzanne and Monty Skinner
of Leonidas.
BANGOR -- Sarah M. Stocchiero, 54341 M-43, received
a $500 Art and Peg
Sanders Scholarship, named for Dr. Margaret M. Sanders, professor
emerita of business information systems, and her late husband,
Arthur. It is awarded based on grade point average. A senior majoring
in integrated supply management and Asian studies, Stocchiero
is the daughter of Mary and Theodore Stocchiero.
BATTLE CREEK -- Shanna L. Cook, 1100 Hamilton Road,
received the $50 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, supported by donations
from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in finance
and Spanish, Cook is the daughter of Cathrine and Rodger Cook.
John R. Duyck, 291 Parkshore Drive, received the $500 Arnold and Roseanne Schneider Scholarship, named for Schneider, the founding dean of WMU's Haworth College of Business, and his late first wife. It is awarded for academic performance. A graduate student in the master's of business administration program with a concentration in finance, Duyck is the son of Patricia and Robert Duyck of Essexville.
BAY CITY -- Stacy L. Sagady, 3263 Frankenlust Road,
received the $300 Bernadine
Branchaw Award, named for a former WMU professor of business information
systems and awarded for academic achievement. A junior majoring
in marketing, Sagady is the daughter of Kathy and Fred Sagady.
BUCHANAN -- Casey C. Dick, 4824 Erie Drive, received
a $500 Art and Peg Sanders
Scholarship, named for Dr. Margaret M. Sanders, professor emerita
of business information systems, and her late husband, Arthur.
It is awarded based on grade point average. A junior majoring
in accountancy, Dick is the son of Bobbetta and John Dick.
CANTON -- Puja Parakh, 43759 Cranford Ave., received
a $200 General
Motors Equal Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic
performance or financial need. A sophomore majoring in management,
she is the daughter of Ranjana and Vijay Parakh.
Sara K. Schoeneman, 42672 Hanford, received a $100 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in finance, she is the daughter of Mary Jane and Dick Schoeneman.
CENTREVILLE -- Martin A. Murk, 598 Anthony Drive, received a $100 Haworth Collegeof Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in food marketing, he is the son of Trudy and Allan Murk.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- James A. Halaris, 41294 Julie St., received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, he is the son of Jane and Anthony Halaris.
COMSTOCK -- Diana Gendhar, P.O. Box 473, received a
$225 Alfred E. Pugno
Scholarship, named for Pugno, a Fremont businessman and the first
president of the WMU Alumni Association. Gendhar, a senior majoring
in computer information systems, is the daughter of Ruby and Irwin
Gendhar.
DETROIT -- Naomi Grant, 1259 Edison, received a $250
General Motors Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic
performance or financial need. A junior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Anniedoll and Frank Grant of Detroit.
Carlo D. Hogan, 17617 Sunderland, received a $1,500 Comerica Bank Scholarship, awarded for academic achievement. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, he is the son of Donna Hogan.
Mijanou N. Minto, 16627 Stout, received a $200 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in food marketing, she is the daughter of Rebecca Monroe and Lloyd Minto.
Shani J. Penn, 4340 Sturtevant, received a $200 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Sylvia and Todd Penn.

ESSEXVILLE -- Dana R. Kryszak, 1179 West Nebobish Road,

FRANKENMUTH -- Jennifer L. Dale, 380 Harvest Lane, received

and piano performance, she is the daughter of Judy Dale.

WMU's Haworth College of Business. A junior majoring in finance,
she is the daughter of Sandra and Joe Sternburgh.
