Hockey Broncos win 2-1, remain first in CCHA

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's hockey Broncos (3-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 CCHA) skated to a 2-0 lead after two periods and won 2-1 versus Bowling Green on Friday night (Oct. 22).

The loss drops BGSU to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

WMU was 0-1-1 versus Miami in games played at Western's Lawson Ice Arena, Oct. 8-9, and traveled to Columbus, Oct. 15-16, for two big victories over Ohio State. With seven points (3-1-1) on the young season, the Broncos are in first place in the CCHA.

Scoring goals for WMU in Friday night's win over Bowling Green were Mike Bishai and David Gove. For sophomore Bishai (BEE-shy) it was the third goal of his career and the third straight match in which he has scored for the Broncos.

Sophomore goaltender Jeff Raynaert stopped 20 of 21 shots for his third consecutive win in net.

Western Michigan continues their weekend series with Bowling Green on Saturday (Oct. 23) at Lawson Ice Arena beginning at 7:05 p.m.
