Dec. 29, 1999

ATLANTA -- The WMU women's basketball team lost, 95-89, in overtime to Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Dec. 29. The game was played at the Georgia Tech Atlanta Marriott Holiday Invitational, where the Broncos will face either Campbell or Pittsburgh in the consolation game on Thursday.

The Broncos fall to 2-7 overall and 1-7 on the road this season.

WMU trailed by a single point at the intermission and scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 51-44 lead. Georgia Tech rallied to lead by four points late in regulation. The Broncos sent the contest into overtime on a jump shot by rookie sensation Kristin Koetsier (Grandville, Mich.), but Georgia Tech out-scored WMU, 11-5, in the extra period.

Senior Shelsea Erving scored all of her game-high 23 points in the second half. Koetsier had 22 points and led all players with 14 rebounds. Senior Danielle Meuller contributed 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore guard Brooke Gallert had seven points and nine assists. The Broncos play at home on Wednesday, Jan. 5, when they host Toledo at 7 p.m. at University Arena. That contest is the Mid-American Conference season opener for WMU and is only the second home appearance for the Broncos (excluding exhibitions) of the 1999-2000 season.
