BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Senior Tony Barksdale scored a game-high 20 points, and three Broncos got into double-figure scoring, but it wasn't enough to lift the WMU men's basketball team over the University at Buffalo. The Broncos lost, 63-60, at Buffalo on Wednesday (Jan. 26).
WMU led at the intermission, but fell behind by 12 points in the second half and never recovered.
Western Michigan is in action next on Saturday, Jan. 28, when it hosts Miami at University Arena. The starting time for the game has been changed to noon to accommodate television coverage. The women's basketball team will host Northern Illinois beginning at 2:30 p.m. as the second half of a Bronco basketball doubleheader.
With the loss at Buffalo, the Bronco men are 7-10 in all games and 3-5 in the Mid-American Conference. Buffalo, coming off a big win over Akron, scored its second straight upset at home of a MAC team with a better record.
Jon Powell had 12 points and seven rebounds for WMU. Thadus Williams got into double-figure scoring for the third consecutive game. He had 13 points.
Eight of the Broncos' 17 games this season have been decided by four points or less. WMU is 4-4 in those contests. The loss at Buffalo snapped a two-game Bronco winning streak.
