Feb. 15, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University student Brian Zellers was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship by the Western Michigan Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Zellers, of Marshall, Mich., was presented the award by Allan J. Vanden Berg, Diesel Technology Company chief engineer, at a recent SAE meeting in Grand Rapids. Diesel Technology, located in Kentwood, Mich., donated the money for the scholarship.

A junior majoring in mechanical engineering, Zellers was selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership in professional and technical activities, grade point average, and an essay on his professional interests and career goals related to mobility engineering. Zellers is currently working in an engineering co-op position at Eaton Corp. in Marshall.

The SAE is a network consisting of nearly 80,000 engineers, business executives, educators and students from more than 97 countries. SAE members share information and exchange ideas for advancing the engineering of mobility systems.
