
WMU to reveal name of new athletic facility

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's new indoor athletic
center will be named for a well-known Kalamazoo area businessman,
University officials will announce at a campus news conference
Tuesday, July 18.
The event is set for 10 a.m. in the Bill Brown Alumni Football
Center at Waldo Stadium. During the news conference, information
about the new facility and its intended uses also will be detailed.
The facility will be the first completely new building for Bronco
athletics built in more than 25 years.
News conference participants will include WMU President Elson
S. Floyd; Kathy Beauregard, director of intercollegiate athletics;
and the leadership of the campaign to raise private funds for
the facility, which is slated for completion in 2002. Community
leaders and friends of the University also will be in attendance.
