Beauregard featured in Girl Scout image campaign

Aug. 8, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- A familiar Bronco face is peering down on motorists around Kalamazoo this month, as Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard is featured in an image campaign by the local Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Council.

Along with her appearance on several billboards dotting the local landscape, Beauregard will be seen in print advertisements promoting Girl Scouting. She is one of several Southwest Michigan women featured in the campaign, which also includes WWMT news anchor Judy Markee and Battle Creek philanthropist Velma Laws-Clay.

According to Rick Briscoe, a board member and marketing chair at the council, the campaign is intended to awaken people to the new face of Girl Scouts.

"We're expanding the traditional cookies and camp image of Girl Scouting," he says. "Glowing Embers is arming girls with the tools they need to grow into vibrant, confident, successful women--and Kathy is a prominent and recognizable example of that kind of woman."

Beauregard became involved with the scouting movement as a young girl, and she has been an active volunteer with the local council for several years.
