
Accounting scholarships awarded for 2001-02

KALAMAZOO -- Twenty-three students were recently awarded scholarships
by the Department of Accountancy in the Haworth College of Business
at Western Michigan University. Awarded for the 2001-02 academic
year, the scholarships recognize students for their academic
excellence and extracurricular participation in the department's
activities.
Andrea Bailer of Stockbridge, Mich., received the Maner,
Costerisan & Ellis Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy
and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of
Edmund Bailer of Stockbridge and Jan Bailer of East Lansing,
Mich.
Naja Bessey of Bellevue, Mich., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Al and Cindy Bessey of Bellevue.
Cari Burke of Benzonia, Mich., received the Arthur
Andersen & Co. Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy
and theatre and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the
daughter of Tim and Fran Burke of Benzonia.
Todd Cook of Pewamo, Mich., received the Deloitte &
Touche Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy and a member
of the Lee Honors College, he is the son of Perry and Diane Cook
of Pewamo.
Patty Garthe of Wyoming, Mich., received the PricewaterhouseCoopers
Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy and a member of
the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Donald and Frances
Garthe of Wyoming.
Bradley Hirsch of New Lenox, Ill., received the Ernst
& Young Award. An April 2001 graduate who majored in accountancy,
he is the son of Jeff and Ulema Hirsch of New Lenox.
Amanda Holley of Eaton Rapids, Mich., received the
David and Sandy Rozelle Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Ottmar and Nancy Holley of Eaton Rapids.
Joshua Horner of Spring Lake, Mich., received the Institute
of Management Accountants Scholarship. A senior majoring in
accountancy, he is the son of Steve and Marlene Horner of Spring
Lake.
Chad Johnson of Lansing, Mich., received the Crow,
Chizek & Co. LLP Outstanding Accounting Student Scholarship.
A senior majoring in accountancy and computer information systems,
he is the son of Dennis and Jean Johnson of Lansing.
Candace Kelley-Hall of Flint, Mich., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy
and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of
Courtney Hall of Flint and Shawn Hall of Warren, Mich.
Amber Law of Canton, Mich., received a Department of
Accountancy Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy and
a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Bruce
and Darlene Law of Canton.
Danielle Mulholland of Eaton Rapids, Mich., received
a Department of Accountancy Scholarship. A junior majoring in
accountancy, she is the daughter of Craig Mulholland of Sunfield,
Mich., and Karen Cataline of Eaton Rapids.
Eileen Pardike of Paw Paw, Mich., received the Gail
E. Newell Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy, she
is the daughter of Greg and Bonnie Pardike of Paw Paw.
Sarah Reese of Coldwater, Mich., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Wayne and Christine Reese of Coldwater.
Natasha Richards of Woodhaven, Mich., won the David
and Sandy Rozelle Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Pat Richards of Woodhaven and Bob Richards
of Glendale, Ariz.
Jeff Roche of Grand Blanc, Mich., received the Ernst
and Young Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy, he
is the son of David and Carol Roche of Grand Blanc.
Shane Rodgers of Jones, Mich., received the Yeo &
Yeo Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy, he is the
son of Thomas and Sandy Rodgers of Jones.
Jane Schneider of St. Joseph, Mich., received the BDO
Seidman Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy, she is
the daughter of the Rev. Terry and Linda Schneider of St. Joseph.
Kelly Souter of Comstock Park, Mich., received the
Plante & Moran Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy,
she is the daughter of Terri Souter of Comstock Park and Robert
Souter of Sparta, Mich.
John Thelen of Fowler, Mich., received the William
Maze Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy and a member
of the Lee Honors College, he is the son of Steven and Mary Lou
Thelen of Fowler.
Wendy Ulrich of Evart, Mich., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy
and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of
Mike and Marcia Ulrich of Evart.
Joshua Versalle of Muskegon, Mich., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A junior majoring in accountancy
and philosophy, he is the son of Gary and Barbara Versalle of
Muskegon.
Scott Zaban of Glenview, Ill., received a Department
of Accountancy Scholarship. A senior majoring in accountancy
and a member of the Lee Honors College, he is the son of Sherwin
and T.B. Zaban of Gleview.
