Trustees to be sworn in before May 30 board meeting
May 29, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- Four new members of the Western Michigan University
Board of Trustees will be sworn in just in time to tackle the
issues of room-and-board and tuition rates for 2001-02 when the
board meets Wednesday, May 30.
Meeting at 3:15 p.m. in the Connable Board Room in the Bernhard
Center, the board will consider fall 2001 tuition, room and board
and parking fees.
It is expected that trustees will table resolutions regarding
tuition and room-and-board rates until the board's June 22nd
meeting. The move is a traditional way for the board to allow
time for public comment on the issues before a final vote is
taken.
In addition, the board will consider personnel reports. They
also will hear a report detailing gifts and grants awarded to
the University during the months of January through April.
Prior to the meeting, four new members of the board, all appointed
recently by Gov. John Engler, will be sworn in by U.S. District
Court Judge Richard A. Enslen. The ceremony will begin at 12:30
p.m. in the President's Dining Room in the Bernhard Center. The
new members are Vernice Anthony of Detroit, Peter L. Aseritis
of Williamsburg, Sarah DeNooyer of Kalamazoo and Dan Pero of
Dimondale.
Board committee meetings will also precede the full board
meeting. They will be held in Room 204 of the Bernhard Center
at the following times: Academic and Student Affairs Committee
at 1:30 p.m. and Budget and Finance Committee at 1:45 p.m. All
meetings are open to the public.
