Trustees meet to consider finance items, tuition rates
July 5, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees
is expected to tackle finance issues tabled at its May 30 meeting
when it meets at 12:15 p.m. Friday, July 6.
Included on the agenda are recommendations on increases for
tuition, room and board, and vehicle registration rates. Those
items were tabled by the board May 30 to allow time for public
comment on the issues before a final vote is taken. Trustees
also will be asked to approve an estimated general fund operating
budget for the 2001-02 fiscal year.
In addition, the board will review personnel reports as well
as reports detailing gifts and grants recently awarded to the
University. They also will consider a series of lease agreements,
revisions to the University's residency policies, and recommendations
that WMU become part of a community health care initiative in
Kalamazoo and a technology partnership in Battle Creek, Mich.
The meeting of the full board in the Bernhard Center's Connable
Board Room will be preceded by meetings of the board's two standing
committees in Room 204 of the Bernhard Center. The Budget and
Finance Committee will meet at 11 a.m., while the Academic and
Student Affairs Committee meeting is slated for noon.
