University Chamber Orchestra debuts Sept. 26Sept. 20, 2001 KALAMAZOO -- A new ensemble in School of Music, the University Chamber Orchestra, will make its debut on Wednesday, Sept. 26, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A "mostly Haydn" program will feature Franz Joseph Haydn's Trumpet Concerto with soloist Scott Thornburg, WMU trumpet professor and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra principal trumpet. The program will also include Haydn's Sixth Symphony ("Le Matin") and Symphony No. 101 ("The Clock"). The select ensemble of graduate and undergraduate string and wind players will be conducted by Chung Park, a graduate assistant in the School of Music who came to WMU from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
