
Jazz Orchestra performs Thursday evening

KALAMAZOO -- WMU's Jazz Orchestra will present its first "home"
concert of the 200102 season on Thursday, Oct. 4, beginning
at 8 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. General admission
tickets will be available at the door for $7 each. Students and
senior citizens will be charged $5.
The award-winning ensemble was recently featured in a performance
with the internationally recognized New York Voices at the Ford-Detroit
International Jazz Festival on September 2. The 18-member University
Jazz Orchestra has received international acclaim for its high
performance standards and creative approach to big band jazz.
The ensemble is directed by Trent Kynaston, WMU professor of
music, who has programmed a mix of traditional big band swing
music and contemporary selections for the Oct. 4 concert.
