Trustees meet Friday
Dec. 6, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees
will consider recommendations to enhance WMU's lineup of graduate
programs with the addition of three new doctoral degree offerings
when it meets Friday, Dec. 7.
Gathering at 12:15 p.m. in the Connable Board Room of the
Bernhard Center, trustees will hear recommendations from the
administration to approve the three new programs, the first additions
to WMU's doctoral offerings since 1998. Approval of all three
would bring the number of doctoral degrees offered by the University
to 28.
Trustees also will consider approval of a new mission statement
for the University as well as the implementation of a new master's
degree program in the College of Fine Arts. In addition, the
board will hear personnel, gift and grant reports and will vote
on a proposal to change the name of one of the University's oldest
initiatives.
The meeting of the full board will be preceded by meetings
of the board's two standing committees in Room 204 of the Bernhard
Center. The Budget and Finance Committee meeting is slated for
10:45 a.m., while the Academic and Student Affairs Committee
will meet at 11:45 a.m.
