
Gold Company ready to shine at annual 'Miller Show'

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's award-winning vocal
jazz ensemble Gold Company will take the stage at Miller Auditorium
Saturday, Feb. 16, for two performances, beginning at 2 and 8
p.m.
Matinee tickets prices range from $8 to $15, and evening tickets
range from $10-$18. Tickets can be purchased through the Miller

Gold Company will demonstrate their renowned repertoire, which
includes every musical style from jazz standards to Broadway
to the popular hits of today.
The 24th annual Gold Company 'Miller Show,' directed by Dr.
Stephen Zegree, includes a 100th anniversary tribute to the music
of Richard Rodgers and a medley of favorite movie themes.
Zegree, professor of vocal jazz in the School of Music, has
directed Gold Company since 1978. During that period, the ensemble
has won nearly every award for which it is eligible and has toured
throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
Gold Company has performed at Walt Disney World, Disneyland
and the 1st Annual Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Jazz Festival. The group
has appeared with guest artists Bobby McFerrin, Janis Siegel,
Mark Murphy, Rosemary Clooney, Jon Hendricks, Don Shelton and
Bonnie Herman. The talented ensemble has earned more than 20
"deebee" awards from Down Beat Magazine and has released
two CDs, "Solid" and "While We're Young."
