Six students earn broadcasting scholarships

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University Department of Communication recently awarded six scholarships to Michigan students in the broadcast and cable production major through two donations of $4,000 and $1,000 by the Radio Alliance of Southwest Michigan and Freedom Broadcasting of Michigan, Inc., respectively.

Each of the six candidates chosen for the scholarships were evaluated based on academic achievements in their area of study.

The Radio Alliance of Southwest Michigan awards went to four outstanding communication majors pursuing studies in radio broadcasting, each of whom will receive $1,000 awards.

James Atto of West Bloomfield, Mich., is a senior majoring in broadcast and cable production.

Cheen Chia Chong of Kalamazoo is a senior majoring in broadcast and cable production.

Sarah Presley of Kalamazoo is a senior majoring in broadcast and cable production.

Michelle Wyman of Kalamazoo is a junior majoring in broadcast and cable production.

The Freedom Broadcasting of Michigan, Inc. awards went to two outstanding communication majors pursuing studies in television broadcasting. They will both receive $500 awards.

Christina Laemers of Ada, Mich., is a senior majoring in broadcast and cable production.

Nancy Quasarano of Kalamazoo is a senior majoring in broadcast and cable production.
