Volunteers get to join the party for free
Sept. 17, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- For those who aren't quite ready to run, but
who still want to take in all of the fun and excitement of WMU's
Homecoming Campus Classic, applications to volunteer for the
annual event are available online.
The Campus Classic 5K and 1K run/walk draws about 2,000 people--half
of them students--to one of West Michigan's most popular races.
About 200 volunteers are needed for the 8:30 a.m. event on homecoming
Saturday, Oct. 12. Volunteers help with registration, direct
and cheer runners, hand out water, announce split times and record
the individual and team finishes.
Volunteers receive free t-shirts, free Bronco paraphernalia,
free admission to the post-race brunch and a chance to win great
door prizes.
To register as a volunteer or runner in the 2002 Homecoming
Campus Classic, visit the race Web site at <www.wmich.edu/race>.
Those interested in volunteering, may also register by calling
Gail Towns at 387-8428.
