Symphonic Band opens 2002-03 seasonOct. 13, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- The University Symphonic Band opens its 2002-03 season with a free performance in Miller Auditorium Sunday, Oct. 20, beginning at 3 p.m. Featured will be works by Samuel Barber, Gustav Holst, John Corigliano and John Philip Sousa. In addition, a new commission by Kenneth Amis will debut. The University Symphonic Band is conducted by Dr. Robert Spradling, director of bands, and by Kristy Smith, a graduate conducting assistant in the WMU School of Music.
