KALAMAZOO -- Five politicians running for state office this fall will meet for a Candidate Forum Tuesday, Oct. 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the lounge of WMU's Lee Honors College.

Participants include Republican Tom George and Democrat Ed LaForge, opponents in the 20th District State Senate race; Republican Jacob W. "Jack" Hoogendyk Jr. and Democrat Jim Houston, who are competing for the 61st District State House seat; and Republic Lawrence Wenke, who is vying for the 63rd District State House seat.

Each candidate will briefly discuss why this year's election is important to Michigan citizens, after which the floor will be opened to questions from the audience. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be moderated by Gordon Evans of WMUK FM, the University's public radio station.
