Proposals sought for 2003 MLK celebration
Nov. 18, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University community is
invited to participate in the 2003 celebration of the life and
work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Committee is organizing events
that will take place the week of Jan 21-25, 2003. In addition
to a communitywide celebration being planned with the Northside
Ministerial Alliance, the week will include programs and workshops
relevant to the 2003 theme, "Moving the Dream into the Community:
Civil Rights to Social Justice."
Committee members are seeking proposals for MLK activities,
and limited funding is available for some uses. To ensure coordination
and maximize publicity for the week, any person or organization
planning an MLK-related event--even those not seeking funding--should
submit a proposal.
Click here for a PDF of the proposal
form, or call Dr. Vincent Lyon-Callo, assistant professor of
anthropology, at (269) 387-3964 for a copy of the form. Interested
faculty and staff members, as well as registered student organizations
should submit proposals before 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, to Lyon-Callo
by campus mail or by fax to (269) 387-3999.
For more information, call Dr. Vincent Lyon-Callo at (269)
