Students sponsor 'Living Peace Sign'April 4, 2003 KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's Progressive Student Alliance and other student organizations are sponsoring a "Living Peace Sign" Wednesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in silent opposition to the war in Iraq. The demonstration will be held on the lawn west of Waldo Library. Participants will join to form the shape of a peace symbol by standing or sitting together. The demonstration is intended by sponsors to offer participants an opportunity to express their opposition to the war in Iraq through non-violent and non-disruptive protest, and to reflect in silence on the consequences of war. In addition to WMU's Progressive Student Alliance, sponsoring organizations include Student KNOW (Kalamazoo Non-violent Opponents of War) and the Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center.
