Community invited to study abroad fair
Sept. 11, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- Members of the campus and local communities are
invited to discover the world by attending the fall semester
Study Abroad Fair at Western Michigan University from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the South Ballroom of the Bernhard
Center.
The event is designed for WMU students, faculty and staff,
but also is open to high school students, guidance counselors,
parents and anyone else who is interested in learning more about
studying abroad.
The free event is sponsored by WMU's Office of Study Abroad.
Some 600 people attended the spring semester Study Abroad Fair
this past January.
Those attending the upcoming fair will be able to learn about
the wide variety of study abroad programs sponsored by WMU and
hundreds of additional programs available through other universities
and organizations that provide programs to students nationwide.
They also will be able to browse a variety of booths and collect
helpful information.
On hand to answer questions will be students, faculty and
staff who are familiar with study abroad programs and services
at WMU and representatives from numerous other organizations
that provide overseas study opportunities.
This fall semester, nearly 500 WMU students are studying abroad
in more than 30 countries on six continents in fields as diverse
as business, communication, engineering, literature and political
science.
