Oct. 27, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's international award-winning
University Chorale and the Grand Rapids Christian High School
Chamber Choir will perform "Cathedral Classics" beginning
at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Cathedral Church of Christ
the King, 2600 Vincent Ave., Kalamazoo.
This concert will feature the "Requiem" by Herbert
Howells. Written in 1936, the piece was composed for Howells'
son who passed away at a very young age. The "Requiem"
was not published until 1980, and the University Chorale, under
the direction of Dr. Joe Miller, will offer West Michigan a rare
performance of this a capella masterwork.
Chorale will be joined by the Grand Rapids Christian High
School Chamber Choir, under the direction of Amanda Quist, in
a program centered around music of England.
