Trustees vote to extend two leases
Dec. 15, 2003
KALAMAZOO--In business action at their Dec. 12 meeting, Western
Michigan University trustees authorized the renewal of two long-standing
leases.
Members of the Board of Trustees approved a five-year renewal
of a lease agreement with the WMU Chapter of the American Association
of University Professors for the premises known as the Montague
House. Located at 814 Oakland Drive, the facility has been used
as an office and meeting space for the AAUP since 1985.
The agreement extends all provisions of the prior lease and
requires rental rates that rise from $1,470 to $1,535 monthly
from April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2009.
Trustees also authorized the extension of a lease agreement
with Megee Printing that began in 1988. Megee Printing operates
The Copy Desk, a facility in the Bernhard Center that has provided
student and faculty support through the Campus Bookstore for
a number of years. The approved addendum and extension maintain
most of the original lease terms for the 1,139-square-foot space.
Effective January 1, 2004, the lease calls for rental rates of
$1,375 per month. Rent increases are at the University's option
and are tied to a consumer's price index, with an annual increase
not to exceed 5 percent.
