Orientation office seeking referrals for 36 student leader
positions
Jan. 9, 2004
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Office of Admissions
and Orientation encourages members of the campus community to
identify and/or nominate students who would be good summer orientation
leaders. A total of 36 students with strong leadership skills
are needed to help first-year students make their transition
to WMU.
Adrienne MacKenzie, coordinator of orientation, notes that
the students who are hired will receive a $2,900 summer salary,
room/board, and additional compensation for completed activities.
Those activities include serving as facilitators for small groups
of new students and parents, providing information about academic
procedures and opportunities at WMU, and helping new students
develop their class schedules and familiarize themselves with
the registration process.
To qualify for the orientation student leader position, applicants
must be flexible and have excellent communication skills, a 2.3
minimum grade point average, and leadership experience or potential.
Referrals and nominations may be made by sending an e-mail
message to MacKenzie at <adrienne.mackenzie@wmich.edu>.
Interested students may call the orientation office at 387-2167.
An online application is available at <www.wmich.edu/admi/orient/osl.html>
while printed applications are available at residence hall front
desks and the orientation office, Room 2070 Seibert Administration
Building. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30.
