
Ottman visits WMU to discuss 'Green Marketing'

KALAMAZOO--Internationally recognized authority Jacquelyn
Ottman will speak on "Green Marketing, Eco-innovation and
Stories from the Green Graveyard" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,
Jan. 29, in Brown Auditorium of Schneider Hall at Western Michigan
University. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Founder and president of J. Ottman Consulting in New York,
Ottman authored the book "Green Marketing: Opportunity for
Innovation," which is now in its second edition and has
been translated into five languages. Since 1989, her company
has helped clients gain competitive advantage by developing and
marketing superior new products capable of meeting customer needs
with significantly less damage to the environment.
Ottman sits on the advisory boards of the Centre for Sustainable
Design (U.K.), Center for Small Business and the Environment
in Washington, D.C., and the Corporate Communications Institute
of Fairleigh DIckinson University, as well as the editorial board
of the Journal for Sustainable Product Design. She chaired the
jury of the American Marketing Association's Special Edison Awards
for Environmental Achievement, and she is a former co-chair of
the New York chapter of O2, the global network of green designers.
