
Gold Company performance is jazz festival finale

KALAMAZOO--Gold Company, Western Michigan University's award-wining
vocal jazz ensemble, will present a concert of vocal jazz as
the culmination of the 24th Annual Gold Company Invitational
Vocal Jazz Festival Saturday, March 27 at 8 p.m. in the Dalton
Center Recital Hall.
A limited number of tickets for Saturday's concert will be
available at the door. General admission is $15. Students and
senior citizens will be admitted for $5.
Festival activities during the day will feature performances
by 20 high school and university vocal jazz groups from seven
states, plus performances by the Gold Company Sextet and by GCII
(Gold Company II), directed by Kelly Ann Westgate.
There also will be a question and answer session with Toxic
Audio, the five voice a capella vocal group from Walt Disney
World, which will perform on Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m. in the
Dalton Center. Toxic Audio includes Michelle Mailhot, a graduate
of WMU and former member of Gold Company.
Dr. Stephen Zegree, a professor of music at WMU, is now in
his 26th year as director of Gold Company.
