
PBS series parallels Graves lectures on 'Illusion of Race'

KALAMAZOO--The three-part PBS television series, "Race--The
Power of an Illusion," is being presented in three lunchtime
screenings at Western Michigan University beginning today.
All three episodes of the PBS series will be shown from noon
to 1:30 p.m. at the Lewis Walker Institute for Race and Ethnic
Relations in Welborn Hall. The screenings are free and opening
to the public, and those attending are welcome to bring their
lunches. A 30-minute discussion period will follow each one-hour
episode.
The first episode, "The Differences Between Us,"
will be shown today (March 29); the second part, "The Story
We Tell," will be shown Wednesday, March 31, and the final
installment, "The House We Live In," will be shown
Monday, April 5.
"Race--The Power of an Illusion" includes interviews
with Dr. Joseph L. Graves Jr., who will lecture of "The
Illusion of Race" Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6-7, for
the fifth annual "Respecting Differences" lecture series
in Kalamazoo.
