Budget for 2004-05, new fees on board agenda

April 14, 2004

KALAMAZOO--At its meeting Friday, April 16, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will consider adoption of a 2004-05 operating budget that addresses the significant financial issues the University faces for the coming academic year.

Trustees will convene at 8 a.m. in Room 157 of the Bernhard Center. After the meeting is called to order, the board will adjourn to a closed informal session, as permitted by Michigan law. When they have completed their discussions in that session, trustees will resume the public meeting and take up a series of formal action items on the agenda.

During the public meeting, trustees will consider recommendations to set graduate and non-resident tuition rates for 2004-05. They also will consider a series of recommendations aimed at revising the University's student fee structure. Gift, grant and personnel reports also are on the agenda, along with several recommendations regarding WMU's Business Technology and Research Park and the nearby Asylum Lake Preserve.
