Jazz Lab Band gives final performance of the season

KALAMAZOO--WMU's University Jazz Lab Band, directed by Tom Knific, will present its final concert of the 200304 season with a program featuring a wide array of soloists from the ensemble.
The free concert is Wednesday, April 7, at 8:15 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University. Highlights will include swing, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban music of Count Basie, Pat Metheny, and Matt Harris. A special musical tribute will be made to composer/arranger Frank Mantooth, who passed away this year. Frank Mantooth was a frequent guest of the WMU Jazz Studies program, and dozens of his works were programmed over the years.
