'Michael Miller & Friends' perform in Dalton Center

April 2, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University faculty oboist Michael Miller will be featured in a free performance Friday, April 9, at 8:15 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Miller will call upon several friends to assist, including Chad Cognata, principal bassoonist of the Colorado Symphony; Lori Sims, pianist and fellow WMU faculty member; and the La Catrina String Quartet, an ensemble made up of WMU graduate music students.

The program will consist of Henri Dutilleux's "Sonata for Hautbois et Piano," C.P.E. Bach's "Concerto per Oboe solo" and "Archi e Cembalo," featuring the La Catrina String Quartet, Gilles Silvestrini's "Etudes pour Hautbois" and Andre Previn's "Trio for Piano, Oboe, and Bassoon." Miller, Cognata and Sims presented this same recital one week ago in the new recital hall at the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver.
