Music Therapy Clinic celebrates 25th annual concert

April 5, 2004

KALAMAZOO--The Music Therapy Clinic at Western Michigan University presents a free concert Monday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Dalton Center Multimedia Room.

The 25th annual concert features participants in the music therapy program and their student therapists. Over the years the concert has become a joyous celebration of achievement and an evening of affirmation for the individuals, groups, families, and caregivers who have participated in Music Therapy services throughout the semester. Performers represent all ages and have a wide variety of physical, cognitive, and/or emotional challenges.

The evening's events, which also include a reception following the program, are sponsored by the Music Therapy Clinic, which operates under the auspices of the School of Music. Services are provided for residents of Kalamazoo and surrounding areas based on self-referral or referrals made by family members, educators, or health professionals. Under the direct supervision of a board-certified music therapist, student clinicians use music-based interventions to target both musical and non-musical goals.

For more information regarding the April 12 concert or the Music Therapy Clinic, please call (269) 387-4679.
