WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS Jazz Lab Band gives free concert WednesdayOct. 14, 2004 KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Jazz Lab Band performs its first concert of the 2004-05 season Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 8:15 p.m.in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. Featuring a wide variety of student soloists and music ranging from classic big band hits to contemporary charts, the concert is free and open to the public. The Jazz Lab Band is under the direction of Tom Knific, professor of music. Doug Pierce, assistant director, will perform Stanley Turentine's classic Sugar. Other features include Mir, Mira from the Maynard Ferguson library and The Trolley Song as arranged by Matt Harris for the Buddy Rich band.
