2005 Air Race Classic 'flight log'

June 19, 2005

by Erica Ebenhoeh and Sarah Tower

LAFAYETTE, Ind.--Erica and I are in Lafayette, the home of Purdue University, and preparing for the start of the 2005 Air Race Classic. Our airplane passed inspection and is secured with the other 41 race planes at Purdue's terminal.

Saturday night the county of Tippecanoe hosted a taste festival in downtown Lafayette. Erica and I went and had a wonderful time. Purdue is hosting a Community Cookout at the airport today (Sunday); the local community is invited to meet all of the racers and see our airplanes.

Erica and I are going to the Takeoff Banquet this evening. It's a semi-formal dinner where all of the racers are introduced, and we'll have the opportunity to meet with all of the ladies. The race itself doesn't start until Tuesday, but we have various meetings and seminars to attend between now and then.

We are very excited to be here and feel fortuanate to participate in such an extraordinary and historical event.
