Trustees approve 54 faculty promotions

KALAMAZOO--The promotions of 54 faculty members at Western Michigan University were approved June 29 by the WMU Board of Trustees.

Twenty-three faculty members were promoted to the rank of full professor, 25 to associate professor and three to assistant professor. In addition, three faculty members were promoted to the rank of faculty specialist II. All of the promotions are effective with the beginning of the 2005-06 academic year.

Speaking on behalf of WMU Trustees, Board Chair Peter Aseritis directed a congratulatory message to faculty members who were promoted or awarded tenure.

"This professional recognition has been earned through your accomplishments in teaching, research and service to the University," he said. The board is proud of your accomplishments."
