Pianist Alexandre Pirojenko performs at WMU

KALAMAZOO--Pianist Alexandre Pirojenko performs in the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University beginning at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.

General admission tickets are $10 and $5 for students and senior citizens and are available from the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office at (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858. Remaining tickets will be available at the door.

Pirojenko won First Prize in the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 2004 as well as numerous international piano competition prizes. He frequently performs as soloist with orchestras throughout Europe, and the Contemporary Orchestral Ensemble in France.

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Pirojenko began his piano studies with Irina Saravayskaya at age 4 and studied with Marina Wolf at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory's Special Music School, from which he graduated with highest honors in 2003. He continues to do postgraduate work at the Conservatory with Alexander Sandler. Pirojenko is an avid collector of vintage recordings, and he has one of the largest collections in Russia.
