KPS fifth-graders perform in dance project concert

Nov. 19, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Edgar L. Page, a senior dance major at Western Michigan University, has choreographed and produced a concert that both benefits and involves students from Kalamazoo Public Schools.

Performances of Page's concert, "Soliloquy," are at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Dalton Center's newly remodeled Dance Studio B. Admission is $5.

"Soliloquy is a community outreach dance project," says Page, "which provides local elementary, middle and high school students, especially young men of African-American descent, with an opportunity to experience the art, energy and expression of dance."

Fifth-graders from Woods Lake Elementary will be among those in the Dec. 3 performance.

Page says that proceeds from the concert and other donations will be applied to a need-based scholarship for KPS students who want to pursue dance studies.
