Four men's tennis players on All-MAC Academic Team

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's men's tennis team, which had a school-record 25-win season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the past eight years, placed four players on the All-Mid-American Conference Academic Team.

Senior Jose Orozco of Cali, Colombia, made his third straight appearance on the all-conference academic team. He maintains a 3.38 grade-point average in marketing.

Junior Brady Crosby from Livonia, Mich., is academic all-conference for the second straight year. He has a 3.72 GPA in finance. Crosby was subsequently named to the Academic All-District IV Second Team by ESPN The Magazine.

Making their first appearances on the men's tennis all-conference academic team are senior Jeff French of Munster, Ind., who has a 3.29 GPA in marketing, and sophomore Alex Birchmeier a management major from Midland, Mich., who maintains a 3.93 overall GPA.

Nominees for All-MAC Academic Teams must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. First-year students are ineligible.
