June 26, 2006
KALAMAZOO--The Graduate College at Western Michigan University is holding a reception to officially welcome the new dean of the Graduate College, Dr. Lewis R. Pyenson, to campus. The reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, in the main lobby of Walwood Hall. All members of the campus community are invited to attend.
Pyenson, who officially began his new duties June 15, came to WMU from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he had previously served as dean of Louisiana's Graduate School for six years.
Also being honored at Wednesday's reception is Dr. Kevin B. Vichcales, associate director of the Graduate College, who is leaving WMU to accept an appointment as dean of graduate studies and research at another university. Vichcales came to the university in 1990 as a graduate student and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees from WMU. Following a progression of part-time research and administrative posts during his graduate studies, he became a full-time administrator in the Graduate College in 2000.
