Academy Award winner "Totsi" comes to Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO--"Totsi," the 2006 Academy Award-winning Best Foreign Language Film, will be shown Friday through Sunday, July 14-16, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Kalamazoo Film Society show times for "Totsi" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. The film is rated R for language and violence.

Set in a ghetto in present day Johannesburg, South Africa, "Tsotsi" is the provocative story of six days in a young gangster's life. "Tsotsi," the title character is on a journey, hopefully toward redemption, but the brutality of his world is ever-present and menacing. And, it is all he has ever known.
