ATIS offers e-teaching endorsement program

Oct. 25, 2006

KALAMAZOO--Recruiting has started for the spring 2007 sessions of Western Michigan University's faculty-only Academic eTeaching Endorsement Program.

The times and dates for those sessions will be determined from the availability of the faculty members who express an interest in the program. A stipend is provided after program completion.

The e-teaching endorsement program is being offered through Academic Technology and Instructional Services. It is open to tenured and tenure-track WMU faculty members who are interested in teaching fully online or hybrid courses (75 percent online, 25 percent face to face) and who have the support of their academic chairs.

The program consists of seven sessions and features various presenters covering such areas as instructional design basics, best practices for e-learning, and concept mapping to plan and design courses.

Through the e-teaching endorsement sessions, attendees will be able to develop their own online course. Each session will address specific topics, including examples of usage in WebCT Vista. Online activities within a WebCT Vista "course shell" will allow attendees to become familiar with the resources available in WebCT Vista as well as provide a student's view of the course platform.

Questions regarding the program completion stipend should be directed to Craig Kaml, ATIS director, at craig.kaml@wmich.edu or (269) 387-4216. For general information about the program or to suggest times and dates for the spring sessions, contact Tammy Douglas at tammy.douglas@wmich.edu or (269) 387-0257.
