"Strangers With Candy" comes to Kalamazoo

Nov. 16, 2006

KALAMAZOO--Western Film Society presents the Kalamazoo-area debut of the 2005 comedy "Strangers With Candy," starring Amy Sedaris, Friday through Sunday, Nov. 17-19, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 and 5 p.m. General admission is $5 and $3 for students. The film is rated R for sexual content, language and some drug material.

Directed by Paul Dinello, "Strangers With Candy" is the prequel movie to the 1999 cult TV series of the same name. Sedaris reprises her television role as Geraldine "Jerri" Antonia Blank, an ex-con, ex-heroin addict, former prostitute and high school dropout. When she is released from prison, she vows to go back to high school in a bid to awaken her father from his coma. The large cast features Matthew Broderick, Stephen Colbert, Philip Seymour Hoffmann and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's historic East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre. For more information, call the movie line at (269) 387-8221 or visit Western Film Society at www.rso.wmich.edu/wfs.
