Jazz artists perform in Dalton Center

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University will host two concerts
in association with the Midwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference
being held on campus Thursday through Saturday, March 8-10. Both
concerts will take place in the Dalton Center Recital Hall and
are open to the public.
Friday, March 9, 8:15 p.m.
"Tuba Euphonium Jazz," $5 at the door
International tuba and euphonium artists will present an
evening of jazz. Soloists include Kent Eshelman, winner of the
Jeju (Korea) International Brass Competition and the Leonard
Falcone tuba competition; John Noreyko, of Walt Disney's Side
Street Strutters; and Brad Felt, who has performed with dozens
of notable jazz artists and groups, including Freddie Hubbard,
Thad Jones, Annie Ross, Martha Reeves and the Four Tops.
Saturday, March 10, 5 p.m.
Kalamazoo Concert Band, free show
Under the direction of Tom Evans, the Kalamazoo Concert Band
will perform selections of their own, and then will accompany
the evening's featured tuba and euphonium soloists. Soloists
include Dan Perantoni, Indiana University; Rex Martin, Northwestern
University; Ken Kroesche, Oakland University; and Martin Cochran,
University of Montevello.
